Medik8 Skincare at The Sana Clinic: Why Good Skin Starts at Home
There is only so much we can do in clinic if the skin is not being supported properly at home. Injectable treatments, microneedling, polynucleotides, skin boosters, chemical peels and biostimulators can all help improve skin quality, but the best results are usually seen when professional treatments are combined with consistent, high-quality skincare.
At The Sana Clinic, Medik8 is one of my favourite skincare brands. I have personally used Medik8 products for years, and I love that their approach is simple, elegant and science-led. Their products are effective without feeling unnecessarily complicated, which makes them easy for patients to build into a routine that they can actually maintain.
Why does home skincare matter?
In clinic, we can stimulate collagen, improve hydration, restore volume, support skin quality and treat specific concerns such as dullness, pigmentation, texture and early ageing.
However, your skin is exposed every day to UV radiation, pollution, stress, dehydration, sleep disruption and environmental damage. A good home routine helps protect your skin between appointments and supports the results of your in-clinic treatments.
This is why I prescribe bespoke skincare plans for patients at The Sana Clinic. The aim is not to overwhelm you with ten products. The aim is to choose the right products for your skin, your lifestyle and your goals.
Why Medik8?
Medik8 is built around a very simple philosophy: vitamin C and sunscreen in the morning, vitamin A at night. This is often referred to as the CSA approach.
I like this because it is evidence-informed, easy to understand and clinically sensible. Vitamin C helps protect and brighten the skin during the day. Sunscreen helps reduce UV-related damage. Vitamin A supports renewal, texture and long-term skin quality at night.
For many patients, this framework is enough to create a meaningful improvement in their skin without making skincare feel intimidating.
What is C-Tetra and why do I love it?
C-Tetra is one of Medik8’s vitamin C serums and one of my personal highlight products.
It contains tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a stabilised form of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from free radical damage caused by environmental stressors such as pollution and UV exposure. It also plays an important role in supporting collagen formation and improving the appearance of uneven tone and dullness.
I particularly like C-Tetra because it feels lightweight and elegant on the skin. It gives a healthy glow without feeling heavy or sticky, which makes it easy to use in the morning before moisturiser and SPF.
For patients with dullness, early pigmentation, uneven tone or tired-looking skin, a good vitamin C serum can be one of the most important steps in their morning routine.
Why is Crystal Retinal such a standout product?
Crystal Retinal is Medik8’s retinaldehyde range, and it is one of the products I recommend most often.
Retinaldehyde, also known as retinal, is a form of vitamin A. Vitamin A derivatives are some of the best-studied ingredients in skincare because they support cell turnover, improve texture, help soften the appearance of fine lines and support collagen production over time.
Retinal is one step closer than retinol to the active form used by the skin, which is why many patients choose it when they want a more effective vitamin A product but are not necessarily ready for prescription-strength tretinoin.
Why does the Crystal Retinal ladder matter?
One of the reasons I love the Crystal Retinal line is that it comes in different strengths. This allows patients to start gently and build up gradually as their skin becomes more tolerant.
This is important because vitamin A products can cause irritation if they are introduced too quickly. The goal is not to use the strongest product immediately. The goal is to choose the right strength for your skin and progress safely.
For many patients, this step-up approach is what makes consistency possible.
What is Exo-PDRN Prismatic+?
Medik8’s Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ is one of the newer additions to their regenerative skincare range.
It is an at-home serum powered by prismatic PDRN and vegan exosome technology. PDRN-inspired skincare is designed to support the skin’s natural rejuvenation pathways, improve visible vitality, refine tone and texture, support calm-looking skin and boost luminosity.
I particularly like this product for patients who want to support their skin barrier, radiance and recovery at home, especially when they are also having clinic-based treatments such as microneedling, polynucleotides or chemical peels.
It fits beautifully into a more advanced skincare plan where the goal is not just to exfoliate or brighten the skin, but to support healthier, more resilient skin over time.
Do we offer professional Medik8 treatments in clinic?
Yes. Alongside bespoke home skincare plans, The Sana Clinic also offers professional-level Medik8 treatments in clinic.
This includes Medik8’s professional chemical peel range, which can be used to improve concerns such as dullness, uneven tone, texture, congestion, fine lines and pigmentation. These treatments are chosen carefully depending on your skin type, skin barrier, goals and treatment history.
The clinic also offers Medik8’s newer Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ professional treatment as part of selected microneedling protocols. This allows us to combine controlled collagen stimulation from microneedling with a regenerative booster designed to support skin recovery, resilience, radiance and overall rejuvenation.
This is where clinic treatment and home skincare work beautifully together. In clinic, we can stimulate and reset the skin with treatments such as microneedling and chemical peels. At home, products like C-Tetra, Crystal Retinal, Advanced Day Ultimate Protect and Exo-PDRN Prismatic+ can help maintain and enhance those results with consistent daily support.
Who might benefit from Medik8 skincare?
Medik8 can be useful for patients concerned with dullness, early ageing, fine lines, uneven tone, pigmentation, texture, congestion, dehydration or loss of radiance.
It can also be an excellent support for patients having treatments such as microneedling, polynucleotides, chemical peels, skin boosters, biostimulators, botulinum toxin or dermal fillers, because healthy skin helps treatment results look better and last more elegantly.
However, not every product is suitable for every person. For example, vitamin A products such as retinal are usually avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless specifically discussed with a clinician.
Why have a bespoke skincare plan?
The skincare industry can feel overwhelming. Patients often arrive with products that are too harsh, poorly layered, unsuitable for their skin type or simply not doing very much.
At The Sana Clinic, skincare plans are tailored to the individual. Your plan may focus on brightening, barrier repair, acne support, pigmentation, ageing prevention, hydration, treatment preparation or post-procedure recovery.
Sometimes the best plan is not more products. It is better products, used correctly and consistently.
How can I start?
